The new and improved Hollywood Casino promises to be a stellar online casino app, but it isn’t yet live.
Penn Entertainment has temporarily shuttered the brand but plans to relaunch it soon with the new and improved technology that formerly powered Barstool Casino.
However, Penn Entertainment dropped the Barstool Brand in 2023 to partner with ESPN and launch ESPN Bet. Penn Entertainment recently addressed that issue by developing a revamped app that fully integrates Penn’s proprietary tech, which it initially deployed on Barstool Casino. Part of the problem is that the original Hollywood Online Casino was simply not up to snuff with its competitors. Since its launch, Hollywood Casino has been humbled by the likes of DraftKings and FanDuel, which continue to pull much bigger revenue figures despite a similar market reach. Its parent company, Penn Entertainment, also operates ESPN Bet and recently committed to expanding to enter additional states where online gambling is legal. Hollywood Casino launched for Pennsylvania bettors in 2019, offering legal online slots, table games, and live dealer games.
